Little Miss Sunshine

Dear Blogspot

Why is it that finally summer comes around, and instead of it being what I’ve hoped and dreamed of all year, instead, the weather is bad, friends are overseas or about to go, and Shortland Street is ending?

Well, I guess the best thing to do, would be a) write a blog, and 2) think about the good things. For example:

· Christmas is 12 days away
· My kitten has decided to make peace with me and stop scratching me
· My aunt has all the ‘Flight of the Conchords’ episodes on tape for me to watch
· Every day is one day closer to ‘Skins’ Season 2
· I just bought the Sneaky Sound System CD
· A book I’ve been waiting for about a month for just came in ‘If Minds Had Toes’

No one ever got blind by looking at the bright side of life.

Oh, additionally, I found this picture:

"Dear God please pray
that I catch a trout
tonight!"

GREENPEACE

So have you ever wanted to become a Greenpeace activist, well, here’s the story.
Firstly, the organisation was begun in 1971 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to oppose the U.S. testing nuclear devices in Alaska. In later years it has been attached to environmentalism, and is best known for campaigns against whaling, deforestation, global warming and genetic engineering. Their official statement is:

Greenpeace is an independent, campaigning organization which uses peaceful direct action and creative communication to expose global environmental problems, and to force solutions for a green and peaceful future. Greenpeace's goal is to ensure the ability of the earth to nurture life in all its diversity”

As of March 2007, their main priorities include stopping climate change, preserving oceans, saving ancient oceans, peace and nuclear disarmament, promoting sustainable agriculture and eliminating toxic chemicals.

So if you want to join the campaign (who knows, one day you may sail one of their famous ships) visit:

Even Cool People Fall Down Stairs

Last Sunday was the Smiths City 60th Annual Santa Parade in Christchurch. Santa parade, it was not, more of a anti Christmas personally. They had every single religion, twice over, every hobby (like belly-dancing), and cults (like Star Wars) and finally, after about 2 hours of boring floats and cars, and gaps in between the floats and cars, finally we had Santa. Yep, a Santa that didn’t even jiggle his belly like a bowl full of jelly. Not even a “Ho, ho, ho”! It’s an outrage!!!!!

Yesterday was a delightful day compared to today. In the morning I had tea and cupcakes with a couple friends, and in the evening was the prize giving. Now, not that the prize giving wasn’t 2 hours of utter boredom, but it did have the perks of including a Dumbledore quote, and, even better, it caused me to have an epiphany. The head girl over her time at my school had fallen down stairs, been thrown into a highly popular bush many times, and was a self confessed nerd.

My epiphany = There’s hope for us all

Today was rather boring in comparison, though I did have a strenuous walk (to the mailbox and back) and listened to music I adore, AKA The Beatles. Yep, there's seriously nothing better than playing "Help" at full volume!

Reason's To Love NME

1. They write things like "It's greyer outside than soggy cardboard" in their magazine
2. It has a "Cool List", which is very cool
3. Is has its own awards show
4. You can win tickets, not that you ever do, but its still a nice idea that you could be that one in a million
5. They have a new mag each week packed with music news
6. The NME is the UK's most comprehensive gig guide, thus the Bible of every (courtesy of Ben) indie music fan
7. Not only do they have posters of musicians, but sometimes even a quote from the photographer giving reasons why they took the photo and the story behind it
8. They have a 'Stuff We Love' page, which is very lovable
9. They have interviews with everyone
10. It's British

It's Summertime (let's celebrate)

Thank goodness
Summer Vaction at last
Like 2 months of weekend, and 2 months without school. Now all I have to do is sleep-in, enjoy Christmas, have fun with my friends, and slowly, but surely, get ready for year 11 in 2008.
Oh, I also need to start saving up for a pair of gumboots and a plane ticket to England.
Oh, and inspired by of a friend of mine (a rather kooky and passionate to Harry Potter person), I want to promote campaigns, and causes that I hold dear (like more seasons of 'Skins'), as well as the odd band.
Trust me, without that it would just be me writing about the different bird noises I can hear from my window.

:)
